Unidentified Device with ACPIMSFT0101 in Windows 7 Device Manager

Background

In the Other Devices section of Windows 7 Device Manager, an unidentified device may appear with the details ACPIMSFT0101. This device is a chipset component found on Intel Skylake and newer motherboards and is part of Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT), which provides TPM 2.0 functionality.

Solution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Download the Intel Management Engine Drivers for Windows 10 and Windows 11 supporting 7th Generation Intel Core Processor Family (Kaby Lake) from Intel's website.
2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
3. Run the hotfix (.exe file) from the extracted folder to install the device driver.

After completing these steps, the ACPIMSFT0101 device should be recognized and the error in Device Manager should be resolved. Please note that the AMD HDMI audio driver may have a separate issue that requires troubleshooting.
