Congressman Andy Ogles Introduces Bill to Prohibit Forced Abortions
Ogles' Legislation Would Protect Babies and Mothers from Coercive Procedures
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) today introduced the Preventing Forced Abortions Act of 2024, a bill that would prohibit federal courts from mandating abortions.
"Every life is precious, and no one should be forced to undergo an abortion," said Ogles. "My bill would protect babies and mothers from coercive procedures and ensure that women have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies."
The Preventing Forced Abortions Act of 2024 would prohibit federal courts from issuing orders that require an abortion to be performed. The bill would also provide a private right of action for individuals who are harmed by a forced abortion.
"I am grateful for the support of my colleagues who have joined me in introducing this important legislation," added Ogles. "I urge my fellow lawmakers to support this bill and send a clear message that forced abortions will not be tolerated in the United States."
