2023 State Of Origin Wrap Maroons Claim Series Triumph

2023 STATE OF ORIGIN WRAP: Maroons claim series triumph

NSW Blues outplayed in yawning defeat

The Queensland Maroons have claimed back-to-back State of Origin series victories with an emphatic 32-6 win over the New South Wales Blues in Game 2 at Suncorp Stadium. After a tight and tense opening half, the Maroons turned the screws in the second period, crossing for four tries without reply to secure a comprehensive victory.

Moses' bold prediction falls flat

NSW halfback Mitchell Moses had boldly declared that the Blues would win the series 3-0 after his surprise recall to the starting lineup. However, his performance failed to live up to the hype, as he struggled to control the game and was replaced by Jake Clifford in the second half.

Queensland's dominance

The Maroons were simply too strong for the Blues on the night, dominating the forward battle and creating more scoring opportunities. Cameron Munster and Kalyn Ponga were in scintillating form, while debutant Jeremiah Nanai scored two tries in a standout performance.

NSW's woes continue

The Blues' Origin woes continued in Game 2, with their attack looking disjointed and their defense unable to contain the Maroons. The defeat will put immense pressure on coach Brad Fittler, who now faces the prospect of losing the series 3-0.

Queensland's redemption

For the Maroons, the victory was a sweet redemption after their disappointing performance in Game 1. They showed great character to bounce back and claim the series in front of their home crowd. Coach Billy Slater will be delighted with his team's efforts, and they will now be confident of completing a clean sweep in Game 3 in Sydney.
